Every year, people gather at the grand ballroom of the College Station Hilton for B/CS Habitat’s Community Builders Breakfast. Our guests generously open their hearts and wallets to partner with B/CS Habitat to build decent and affordable homes for people needing a hand up. This year was no exception. More than 400 individuals joined us for the breakfast.

This year’s breakfast highlights included Tom Turbiville’s excellent and hilarious job of MCing the Breakfast.Jim Davis received a standing ovation for the years of love he has poured into B/CS Habitat. Though he officially retired last year, he still embodies the best of who we are.
Karen Smith of Smith Dairy Queens gave a compelling speech of what it has meant for her to partner with B/CS Habitat. Guests then watched a video filmed and produced by Donny Hall at Studio 82, that illustrates the staggering need for decent, affordable housing in our community. One of the most touching moments of the breakfast was when Mariela Juarez shared her family’s story and how proud her father was to finally provide a home for her family through Habitat after years of struggling with medical debt.
Along with the guests, the staff at B/CS Habitat were reminded of what is at the core of our mission, to provide an opportunity for individuals and families to receive a hand up and out of the cycle of poverty through homeownership. We are deeply grateful and humbled by the support we receive from this community!
