Texas A&M students are building walls for Habitat for Humanity on campus this week, Monday-Thursday. Their goal is to build enough walls for four Habitat homes in Bryan and College Station.
The effort, sponsored by BUILD, a new student organization, is taking place on Simpson Drill Field from 8:00-5:00 each day. Students representing a diverse group of student organizations are doing the building, led by regular Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
BUILD is a new student organization initiated by members of the Corps of Cadets. It aims to promote unity on campus by bringing the entire student body together to work on a service project. In addition to building walls on campus, BUILD is currently sponsoring the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home in Bryan, providing the financial sponsorship and volunteers to build it.
