Saturday March 5th over 65 runners and walkers participated in the Rob Chandler Memorial “Run for the House” 5k/2k race walk event benefiting Bryan College Station Habitat for Humanity. Participants started at First Christian Church in located in Bryan across from Stephen F. Austin Jr. High and ran a course along Carter Creek Parkway.
Congratulations to our two first place winners, Ken Tillman and Lauren Boehm! The top 3 finishers in the male and female divisions, the “youngest” and “oldest” runner and the runner who had the come the farthest to run, (Camaroon, Africa!) all received medals.
This event could not have happened without a pair of very special people. Joy Nies and Peter Witt were the major sponsors for this event and without their generous support the race would not have happened. Other sponsors as well helped make this a great run for everyone, those sponsors include:
First Christian Church
Dairy Queen/ Karen Smith
St Thomas Episcopal Church in Memory of Rhoda Montgomery
Peace Lutheran Church
Thomas and Gloria Woodbury
The Family of Rob Chandler
Delta Epsilon Mu
Without the support of these great individuals, churches, businesses and organizations, we could not have been able to put on this event, we want to thank all our sponsors, volunteers and runners/walkers for making it a great day for BCS Habitat for Humanity, until next year……Keep on running.
If you’d like to volunteer or donate to build homes and hope in Bryan/College Station, let us know!
