We opened our doors October 16, 1989, so today we are celebrating 26 years of serving the Bryan/College Station community. God has blessed us with hard-working volunteers, generous donors and wonderful Habitat families. This important combination of B/CS community values (family, volunteerism and generosity) has allowed our affiliate to become successful and to grow over the years. Currently we build as many as 15 houses a year; 260 homes so far! Thanks to this caring and selfless community, many local families have been able to live in safe, affordable homes that they themselves own!

Besides building homes, we build communities. Many families from different backgrounds live side by side on streets and in subdivisions, large and small. Miracle Place, along William J. Bryan Pkwy, was our first. Sharon’s Court is in Bryan off Commerce Street. Faith is located along Martin Luther King, Jr street. Angels Gate subdivision, off W. 28th St. in Bryan, is close to being filled to capacity and we have laid the groundwork for the new Hope subdivision in Bryan.

Community is more than just a subdivision–joining Habitat means you create bonds with people you wouldn’t otherwise meet. This housing mission brings people together to work toward a common goal; and it isn’t just the families who are blessed. Over the years, volunteers and donors alike admit that they feel blessed and experience incredible joy through this work. I can’t leave out the staff-members. As one, I can attest to the excitement I’ve seen on staff faces when we hear of good news or families’ triumphs.

But the work isn’t done. One of our recent homeowners expressed that he couldn’t wait to get back to work building these homes because there are so many families like his who still need a good, affordable place to call their own…their home. I couldn’t agree more; we have several qualified families waiting for home sponsors. Please consider joining our community in building safe, affordable housing for families in need–you won’t regret it!
