After eight months of only building in Bryan, Habitat for Humanity is set to start a new home in College Station this Saturday, Feb. 22. This will be the first of three houses that Habitat will build on Phoenix Street in the coming months. The other two will start in March.
The walls for the Sanchez Family home will be raised by volunteers beginning after a short ceremony at 8:00 a.m. Saturday. (To read more about the Sanchez Family, click here.) Everyone is welcome to attend the wall raising ceremony. The house is generously sponsored by the City of College Station.
Habitat will also be busy in Bryan on Saturday. Volunteers will be working on the 24th and final home in Habitat’s Faith Subdivision off East MLK. The 23rd house – the Scott Family Home – was dedicated last Saturday. All 24 homes in the neighborhood will have been built in just one year and a half.
B/CS Habitat for Humanity is also currently building the first of four homes on Frankfort Street in Bryan, off Highway 21.
