At Habitat, we do more than build houses. All prospective Habitat homeowners participate in financial education classes before receiving the keys to their new home. On Tuesday, Habitat staff received Financial Stability Innovation Fund training at United Way of the Brazos Valley. In partnership with local banks, Wells Fargo and United way representatives led Habitat staff and staff from other community organizations in a 7-hour training session designed to help low-income residents become more knowledgeable about debt and credit to improve their household budget. Throughout 2016, staff will conduct financial trainings and one-on-one meetings with applicants and homeowners, using the skills they’ve learned to better assist families in meeting their financial goals.
Habitat would like to thank the local banks for supporting this initiative and helping build hope in Bryan-College Station – TB&T, ExtraCO Banks, BB&T, Commerce National Bank and Wells Fargo.
